COAST Arts – More than just a festival. 10 years on.

Summer Events in North Norfolk

This month’s newsletter sees basket weaving, more outdoor theatre and a rocking bishop! Plus the monthly films at The Atrium in North Walsham.

Basket Weaving Workshop

This is an introduction to working with willow in a relaxed and sociable setting. You will learn how to handle willow, prepare it for weaving and learn about the most useful tools to work with. You will be instructed in three of the most essential weaving techniques ‘pairing’, ‘randing’ and the ‘three rod wale’, which you will get a chance to practice. These will enable you to make a sturdy structure.

In this workshop you will learn to weave a basket and learn to finish it with a strong border.

Weaving is immensely satisfying and engaging and a great way to reconnect with nature, whilst also being creative. When you feel confident in your newly acquired skills, you would be able to create hand made gifts or work with young children to help them express themselves creatively through willow.

Fee of £95 includes a light lunch and all the materials. Numbers will be limited to 4.
