This event finished on 22 November 2017.
It feels a bit strange to write to you in August of this autumn/winter’s COAST project but I wanted to at least flag it up, so that you know it will be happening, can put the dates in your diary and have a think whether you’d like to be a part of it. It would be more than wonderful to have you on board.
As before, there will be six rehearsals – mainly on WEDNESDAYS this time – culminating in a concert. This project is called:
Ring Out The Old, Ring In The New! – an inspiring mix of songs, both old and new, celebrating the winter and, this time, especially the New Year.
I’m still deciding on the program but it’s likely to include old lesser-known carols such as The Copper’s Christmas Song, The Roby Mill New year Carol from Yorkshire, a northern England wassailing song, ‘Da Day Dawn’ based on a very old fiddle tune for the new year from the Shetlands, and two versions of ‘Auld Langsyne’.
So, that’s to whet your appetites!
And here are the finer details:
Rehearsal Dates: WEDNESDAYS 1,8,15,22,29 November – in ST PETER’s CHURCH HALL, SHERINGHAM
TUESDAY 28 November – in THE LIGHTHOUSE, Sheringham
Concert Date: Saturday 2nd December
Times: 7-9pm (Concert 7.30pm, with choir meeting at 6pm)
Cost: £40 (and open to negotiation if finances are an issue)
Of course you are welcome to sign up already if you’re ready to dive in now, and I will also write again early September with a further invitation.
Hope to see some of you on the 22nd this month for a Sheringham Summer Sing.
