Charity Art Auction

Ellie Glasgow (aged 15) has been working hard over the summer to raise the £4,641 costs of going on a charity expedition to Kenya to work as a volunteer with fellow Sheringham High School students in 2018. A successful JustGiving campaign, her pop-up café, a couple of car boots and a sponsored abseil (undertaken by her Great Auntie Margaret for her 70thbirthday!) have brought the total raised so far to £3,381.

“Everyone has been so generous and, with their help and support, I’m almost three-quarters of the way there. I’m determined to reach my target and hope that my next two events in November will edge me that little bit closer. Anyone can come to either or both! It would be great to have good turn-outs; especially as so many people are donating their time, expertise, raffle prizes, refreshments and artworks to help me achieve my goal.”

Samuel ThomasEllie extends an open invitation, to anyone interested in contemporary art or looking for a special Christmas gift, to please go along to her Art Auction on Sunday 19 November, 6:00pm at The Belfry Centre, Overstrand; where they can bid for the 35 donated artworks – prints, original paintings and 3D pieces – by some of Norfolk’s finest artists, including: Catherine Ball; Penny Bhadesra; Katrina Cole; Elizabeth Harvey; Leslie Hawkes-Nockels; Helen Herbert; Michael Horn; Anna-Lise Horsley; Jane Ironside; Frank Jarvis; Susanne Lakin; Vince Laws; Brian Lewis; Norman Mackie; Louise Maclaren; Kate Munro; Su Owen; Mike Pert; Susan Purser-Hope; Sam Robbins; Jenny Rumens; Gaia Shaw; Peter Strudwick; Samuel Thomas.

The evening offers the opportunity to meet and mingle with many of these artists.  There will be wine and soft drinks for sale and complimentary nibbles and sweet treats prepared by Ellie, her mum and her grandmother.

“I want this to be a relaxed event so it will be a silent auction where people write their bids on a piece of paper. Only the winning bid is announced and, this way, people can bid whatever they can afford without feeling uncomfortable! If you can’t make it on the night, you can also submit an online bid here.”
